Finding a practice that knows your family and can also look after your skin usually means two waiting rooms and two sets of paperwork. At Marketplace Medical & Skin Clinic you get both. Our GPs handle everyday appointments, care plans, immunisations and chronic conditions, and the same team runs a dedicated skin clinic with dermatoscopic skin checks and on site procedures.
We are a bulk billing practice for eligible Medicare patients, and we take part in MyMedicare, the Australian Government program that formally links you to your regular practice so your care stays connected over time.
New patients from Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove, Paradise Point, Helensvale, Coomera and the wider northern Gold Coast are welcome.

- Standard consultations bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders. Some procedures and longer appointments may attract a fee, confirmed with you beforehand.
- Skin checks performed by a GP holding a Certificate in Skin Cancer Surgery, using dermatoscopic examination.
- Excisions, cryotherapy and minor procedures carried out at the clinic where clinically appropriate.
- On site pathology collection, so blood tests can usually be done at the same visit.
- Continuity of care through MyMedicare, with the same GP wherever possible.

Frequently asked questions
Is Marketplace Medical & Skin Clinic bulk billing?
Yes. We bulk bill eligible Medicare patients, so covered consultations have no out of pocket cost. Some procedures, extended consultations and services that Medicare does not fully cover may attract a fee. Reception will confirm what is bulk billed before your appointment.
Do I need a referral for a skin check?
No. You can book a skin check directly with one of our GPs, online or by calling 07 5510 9222. A referral is only needed if your GP decides to send you on to another specialist.
What happens during a skin check?
Your GP examines your skin using a dermatoscope, an instrument that magnifies and lights the skin so spots can be assessed more closely. Anything of concern is discussed with you, and if a biopsy or procedure is needed it can usually be arranged on site. A full skin check normally takes 20 to 30 minutes, so book a longer appointment.
Where is the clinic and is there parking?
We are at 99-103 Broadwater Avenue, Hope Island QLD 4212, on the northern Gold Coast. Parking is available on site. We are a short drive from Sanctuary Cove, Paradise Point, Helensvale, Coomera and Runaway Bay.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Saturday, 10:00am to 2:00pm. Closed Sunday. Online booking is available at any hour, including outside those times.
Are you taking new patients?
Yes, new patients are welcome. Book online or call 07 5510 9222. Bring your Medicare card, a list of any current medications, and the name of your previous practice if you would like your records transferred.
Were you previously Amtan Medical Hope Island?
Yes. Marketplace Medical & Skin Clinic was formerly known as Amtan Medical Hope Island. Same location on Broadwater Avenue, now operating as a bulk billing general practice with a dedicated skin clinic. Existing patient records remain with the practice.
Can I book with a female GP?
Yes. Dr Nidah Ahmed consults at the clinic and has an interest in women's health and antenatal care. You can select a specific doctor when booking online, or ask reception when you call.
What is MyMedicare and do I have to register?
MyMedicare is a free, voluntary Australian Government program that formally links you with your regular practice and GP, which supports better coordinated care over time. We participate in it. You can register through your Medicare Online Account, the Express Plus Medicare app, or with help from our reception team. You can still be seen if you choose not to register.
Do you offer Saturday appointments?
Yes, we are open Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Saturday appointments tend to fill quickly, so booking online in advance is worthwhile.
How does an adult ADHD assessment work?
It is a structured process that usually runs across more than one appointment so your history, current symptoms and other possible contributing factors can be reviewed properly. Your GP will explain the steps, likely timeframes and any costs at your first appointment. Assessment outcomes vary from person to person.
